Bog Snorkeling Gains Gambling Sponsorship

The sponsorship rights to the famous Welsh art of bog snorkeling were recently snapped up by an online gambling firm. Online gambling firm Golden Palace has forked out no less than five and a half thousand pounds to sponsor the event, replacing last year's sponsor Ben and Jerry's Icecream. The gambling firm first heard about the bog snorkeling event on internet auction site eBay, and has doubled the sum of cash previously made available to its Welsh organizers.
The annual bog snorkeling championship is held each year at Llanwrtyd Wells, Powys, and attracts over 150 international competitors. The sponsorship money provided by the online gambling firm is expected to go toward marketing the event, including the production of brochures and flyers. Signs announcing the gambling firm's role in the event are in preparation, and a spokesperson for the gambling firm is expected to attend this year's event in person.
While organizers are understandably ecstatic about gaining the sponsorship of a high profile gambling firm, Golden Palace is yet to make a public statement on the deal. It is thought that the decision to sponsor bog snorkeling was made to compete with several new sponsorship deals between online gambling firms and major sporting bodies, including Mansion's sponsorship of football club Manchester United and 888's deal with the World Snooker Championship
